Surah Maun‘s benefits & lessons are The 107th sura of the Qur’an, Surat Al Maun (Arabic: سورة الماعون “Small Kindnesses, Almsgiving, Have You Seen”), has seven ayat. This surah deals with two of Islam’s most fundamental teachings: how to pray and how to contribute.
This Surah was most likely revealed at Mecca during the early days of Muhammad’s Prophethood proclamation.
The 107th Surah of the Qur’an, Surah Al-Ma’un or Surah Maoon, is made up of seven ayat (verses). Al- al sura al maoon surah means “Small Kindness” or “Almsgiving,” as well as “The Daily Necessaries,” “Charity,” and “Assistance” in English.
About Surah maun
Muqatil and al-Kalbi said that the surah was revealed regarding Al-‘As ibn Wa’il, but Ibn Jurayj reported that the primary reason for the relation was Abu Sufyan ibn Harb chasing an orphan away with a stick, according to ‘Al ibn Ahmad al-Whid.
The tribe of Quraysh has been endowed with the blessings of peace and nourishment due to the Kaaba, according to the previous pair of surah – Al-Fil and Quraysh (surah).
These blessings should have compelled them to worship the Lord of this Sacred House with all sincerity and to try to achieve the goal for which it was established and entrusted to them. The Quraysh are addressed in Surah al-Ma’un, which has the theme of informing their leadership.
surah al maun Arabic text
What is the meaning of Al maun?
maun surah is known as Ma’un in most editions of the Qur’an, which means “little kindness” in Arabic. It’s also known as “Have You Seen,” a title given to it by al-Bukhari in his collection of authentic Prophetic tales and Ibn ‘Atiyyah in his famous Qur’an interpretation. Furthermore, Al-Suyutti claims that this chapter is also known as the “religious” chapter. Others refer to it as the “denial” and “orphan” chapters, respectively.
Where was surah maun revealed?
al maun surah was revealed in Mecca, according to most scholars, and it was the 17th chapter revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) after Surah al-Takathur and before al-Kafirun. Part of this chapter was revealed in Mecca, while the other was revealed in Medina, according to Ibn ‘Abbas. This is because there were no hypocrites at Mecca. As a result, the mention of them could only have happened in Medina. That viewpoint appears more realistic and reflects Ibn ‘Abbas’ deep comprehension (ra).
When was surah maun revealed?
surat maun was the 17th chapter revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) after Surah al-Takathur and before al-Kafirun. According to Ibn ‘Abbas, part of this chapter was revealed at Mecca and the other in Medina. This is due to the fact that there were no hypocrites at Mecca. As a result, they could only have been mentioned in Medina. That perspective appears more realistic and displays Ibn ‘Abbas’ extensive knowledge.
Why was surah maun revealed?
According to those who believe this is a Meccan chapter, these words were sent because of al’As bin Wa’il al-Sahmi, al-Walid bin al-Mughira al-Makhzumi, or ‘Amru bin ‘Aidh al-Makhzumi. Others claim it was sent about Abu Sufiyan before he converted to Islam since he was known for repelling the poor. Others believe it was delivered in retaliation for Abu Jahl’s abuse of orphans.
If we follow Ibn ‘Abbas’ logic and assume that this chapter was transmitted to both Mecca and Medina, it’s likely that the first half of the chapter is about one, some, or all of the persons listed above, while the second half is about Medina’s hypocrites.
As a result, the examples in this chapter are of personality qualities that Muslims should avoid. It is a response to our request, “Guide us to the straightway – the path of those upon whom you have bestowed favour, not of those who have aroused [You’re] wrath or gone astray” (Qur’an, 1:6-7).

What is the main theme of surah Maun?
Surah Al Maun is the 107th Chapter of the Holy Quran, making it one of the last surahs. It is an early Makkan Surah, meaning it was revealed before the Hijrah, and the Quraish tribe is the primary target audience. The Surah is made up of seven Ayahs that cover a wide range of issues, including both Allah’s and people’s rights.
There are seven verses in this Surah. It gets its name from the seventh verse: ” (And deny assistance) wherever the phrase “.” appears, which means “Assistance.” In Mecca, this Surah was revealed. Some Quranic commentators believe that this Surah was revealed at Madina, while others disagree.
This Surah tells two of Allah’s fundamental teachings: how to pray: either to please Allah or to impress others, and how to give: either for charity to please Allah, withholds, or give just to impress others. Religion entails caring for others and assisting the poor and needy. According to the Surah, a compassionate and sympathetic character is created through sincere belief in Allah and the Judgement Day.
“Who are unmindful of their prayer,” says verse 5. It could imply postponing prayers, failing to meet their requirements, or praying but failing to consider the spirit and message of the prayer. This verse contains all of these meanings. A portion of this verse applies to everyone who has any of these characteristics.
This is supported by the two Ahadith attributed to the Prophet of Allah PBUH, who said This is the hypocrite’s prayer; this is the hypocrite’s prayer; this is the hypocrite’s prayer. He sits and watches the sun till it passes between the Devil’s two horns. Then he stands and strikes four Rakahs, and he barely remembers Allah in any of them.
Surah Maun Tafseer
There are four lessons to be learned from this Surah.
A believer should be concerned about orphans.
Verse 1 is about a person who is constantly in denial regarding the day of judgment; nonetheless, the next verse is about an orphan who is mistreated by this person. The believer, on the other hand, has a heart that is full of compassion and empathy toward orphans. In Islam, sponsoring or caring for an orphan is extremely important. Orphans are mentioned 22 times in the Quran, and various Ahadith discuss their benefits in this life and the next. This Surah invites every believer to reflect on their behavior because the believer is merciful and loving to them.
This instructs us to take a look around and see where we’ve gone wrong. To gain Allah SWT’s pleasure, we should help orphans and others in need as much as possible. Here are some lovelier Islamic haqooq-ul-ibad quotes.
Concentrate on the prayer
In verses 4 and 5, Allah discusses someone who prays but is unaware of the hours, pillars, or processes, or who is preoccupied with worldly affairs. This attitude is being chastised; thinking about anything else when praying is considered disrespectful. Salah is one of the five prayers and the gateway to Jannah; a negligent and slothful approach to it indicates a lack of Imaan.
We must concentrate on our prayers and not allow Satan to divert our attention away from Allah. We only have so much time in a day to devote to our daily responsibilities. We can forget about everything and concentrate on our spiritual needs five times a day. It may be difficult to do at first. However, once you start doing it, you will begin to appreciate it. Here are some suggestions for concentrating on salah.
Allah SWT does not accept certain good deeds
This surah explains the concept of ‘Riya.’ All of the above-mentioned characteristics are Riya: flaunting, doing nice things in order to please others, and obtaining their praise.
Ahmad Musnad In these ayahs, Allah SWT encourages us to purify our intentions and offer supplication to him alone. Riya is an indication of shaky Imaan, so we must increase our faith in Allah and the Day of Judgement to rid ourselves of Riya.

Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)?
Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness),
And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.
So woe to the worshippers
Who are neglectful of their prayers,
Those who (want but) to be seen (of men),
But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.

Summary surah maun
surat maun, first and foremost, is self-explanatory and serves as a reminder to all believers. It is one of the Quran’s shortest chapters, and the vast majority of Muslims memorize it for recitation in the five daily prayers.
A firm believer does not ignore the needs of others; instead, he is kind in heart and does not live a selfish life. In addition, the purity of intention, which is the cornerstone of all ethical deeds, is mentioned. Without it, every action is vain and unacceptably sinful in Allah’s eyes.
It begins by mentioning the individual who denies the judgment day and then proceeds to walk us through such a person’s actions. Their interactions with others, particularly the poor, and the quality of their prayers. Overall, it outlines all of the characteristics that a believer should not possess.
The mistreatment of an orphan by a disbeliever, as well as the failure to encourage others to feed the needy, is denounced in surah al maun. Not only does the disbeliever abuse the orphan,
but he also fails to help and urge those around him to feed the destitute. Al-Ma’un also challenges us to think about our hearts and our dealings.
As a result, in order to please Allah, we should be sympathetic to orphans and treat the destitute with dignity and respect.
Similarly, Muslims should not be self-centered and should consider the community as well.
Instead of sending in extravagance when people in the area are dealing with poverty, plant trees and feed the hungry.
