The virtues of reciting surah Tariq (Arabic: سورة الطارق ) written Surah Al-Tariq is that it is one of the spiritual chapters that explain and glorify the Creator’s making and his ability to revive and resurrect.
Allah explains, through His verses, the great power to create the heavens and the planets and stars that contain them, piercing with their light the intense darkness.
He swore by it at the beginning of his verses because of its greatness and great value.
Al Tariq meaning?
By At-Tariq ( Arabic: الطارق ), he means the very luminous star that pierces the darkness with its light. It penetrates the sky and reaches the earth.
When Abu Talib was sitting with the Messenger, he saw a star shining in the sky, So he asked the Messenger and told him that it is a star that Allah threw into the sky to illuminate the earth from its streak of light and glow.
Al-Tariq was mentioned in the first two verses to indicate his greatness and the manifestation of Allah’s power in creating the sky and the planets and stars it contains.

Scientific miracles in Surah Tariq
After these centuries of the Prophetic Mission of Prophet Muhammad and the revelation of the Noble Quran, modern science has confirmed the scientific miracles in the Holy Quran, Everything that scientists and explorers have discovered, Allah has told us about it in the Noble Quran since the revelation of the Quran.
And this confirms that the Holy Quran is a valid and renewable miracle For every time and place until Allah inherits the earth and those on it, and it is the message that Allah pledged to preserve
(إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ)
And the scientific miracles appeared in the Almighty’s saying:
«السماء والطارق»
As modern science continues discovering what Allah has told us more than 1400 years ago, this appeared When scientists discovered the sky and the planets and stars in it through telescopes and lenses to see space closely, they monitored the sounds of regular beats coming out of some stars in the sky. But it needs a material medium that can spread in it, and all these discoveries confirm one fact, which is the scientific miracle in the Noble Quran.
From here comes the scientific miracles in the Noble Quran. Allah told us in his dear book (in the Quran) and swore many centuries ago by the sky and by the Tariq and the piercing star. To hear it, the Noble Quran informed about it in Surah Al-Tariq, where he said:
“وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ (1) وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ (2) النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ (3)
and from here appears at the top of the scientific miracles in the Quran, and shows its importance, greatness, and sincerity.
Where was surah Tariq revealed?
Surah At-Tariq is one of the Meccan surahs that were revealed to Muhammad in Mecca.
Why was surah Tariq revealed?
The first three verses of surah al Tariq were revealed about the uncle of the Messenger, Abu Talib, as mentioned in the book Asbab al-Nuzul by al-Wahidi, When he came to his brother’s son carrying bread and milk, then they started eating, and he saw a star-filled with water, then it was filled with fire, so he panicked.
So he asked our master Muhammad to explain this terrifying situation. So he explained that it is a star that Allah threw into the sky to be a sign and one of his miracles.
The verses of the Wise Quran were revealed in it from the surah at Tariq.
Al-Farra believes that this intense light comes from al Tarek, which is a planet in the seventh heaven that descends to the lowest heaven when the stars appear at night and returns to the seventh sky when the stars disappear and thus it hits the lowest heaven and the seventh heaven.

When was surah Tariq revealed?
surat Tarik came ten years before the mission.
Is surah at-tariq makki or madani
At tariq surah is one of the Meccan surahs by agreement, it was revealed in Mecca to the Messenger and is found in the thirtieth part of the Quran. The name of Allah was not mentioned in it.
What is the main theme of surah at Tariq?
Among the most important features of Tariq surah are the following:
- Surat al thariq is one of the short surahs that are beloved to be read in prayers, following the example of the Messenger of Allah.
- The Messenger was keen to teach the Companions to recite it in the prayers to ease the worshipers.
- The Creator’s ability to create and maximize his ability to create out of nothing.
- Not only is Allah’s ability to create human beings manifested, but his ability to resurrect them to life and bring them out of their graves after death so that each of them may receive the reward of his action in this world.
- Allah spoke in His verses about the importance and greatness of the Quran, that it is not a joke, that its words are free from error and distortion, and that all of its statements are true.
- A clear threat to the infidels and deniers of a painful punishment, he asked his Messenger to leave them and give them time for a great day in which regret or return will be useless.
Surah at-tariq tafseer
Here is an interpretation of the words of surah at-Tariq:
والسماء والطارق {1}
There are three meanings of the Tariq:
The first meaning is the angels, who carry the souls of Muslims and ascend to the heavens and knock on their doors. Either they are opened to the righteous and acceptable to Allah, or they are not opened to them.
The second meaning is meant by Tariq Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah when he ascended with Gabriel to the sky on the night of the Isra and Mi’raj, when Gabriel knocked on the sky and he was asked who is with you, Muhammad said, so I opened it for him.
The third meaning means the star in the sky that, due to its intensity of light, pierces the darkness. And all the stars are Tuareg because they can only be seen at night.
That is why the Prophet sought refuge from every Tariq except Tariq who knocked fine. The road was called a road because of the foot’s path to the ground.
وما أدراك ما الطارق{2}
Allah sanctifies his creation and creativity for this star shining in the sky.
النجم الثاقب{3}
By the piercing that cuts through the intense darkness of the night with the brightness and strength of its light, every star that pierces the wall of the night is called a piercing.
The stars differ in terms of their size, proximity, unity, and brightness, And all in an orbit are swimming.
إن كل نفس لما عليها حافظ {4}
The meaning of this verse is that every soul is created by Allah, and He is responsible for its preservation.
He has preserved you while you are sperm in your father’s back, and He has preserved you while you are a leech in your mother’s uterus, and He has covered your bones with flesh and flowed blood in your veins.
It is He who shapes what is in the wombs as He wills. So Allah commanded the angels to protect him in front of him and behind him from hardships.
The other memorization is observing the watchful eye, and this is the case of the memorizers who are commanded to record all the words and deeds that the servant does.
فلينظر الإنسان مما خلق{5}
And Allah commands man to meditate on his creation and how Allah formed him and excelled in his creation.
خلق من ماء دافق {6}
Me man meant to be flowing, Among its conditions is the flow. If it was not flowing, it would not have reached the egg, the zygote would not form, and the fetus would not be.
يخرج من بين الصلب والترائب {7}
This is the vital water that Allah expelled from between the backbone and the ribs.
It was said of the man’s loins
and the ribs of the woman.
With every splash of man water, millions of sperm come out, With every splash of a man’s water, millions of sperm come out.
إنه على رجعه لقادر{8}
Allah, who caused its creation and created its creation, can bring it back again.
يوم تبلى السرائر{9}
On the Day of Resurrection, everything that a person tries to conceal will be revealed, Every human being has something hidden inside him that only my Creator knows.
فما له من قوة ولا ناصر{10}
No one has the power to stop the revelation of the hidden, and no one can support it.
والسماء ذات الرجع{11}
Exegesis scholars explain that the return is rain, Where the sun heats the seawater, turning it into water vapor that rises to the sky, and the wind moves it into the layers of hot air for the cold layers, and clouds are formed.
The wind blows it, and it falls to the ground again. Everything that is raised to heaven is returned. Muhamed ascended to it and returned, and Issa, son of Mariam, was raised and returned.
والأرض ذات الصدع{12}
The crack means cracks in the earth. If the earth had no cracks, it would not have sprouted.
إنه لقول فصل{13}
The Quran is the separator and the truth on which no two differ, It is the difference between the disputants and the dissenters. The Quran is the rule of Allah, we only have to listen and obey.
وماهو بالهزل{14}
The Quran is complete, true, and without joking or belittling. Because it is from Allah, there is no difference or distortion in it.
إنهم يكيدون كيدا{15}
The infidels of their characteristics are maliciousness and creating tricks to doubt the prophet’s message.
So they wrote books on the biography of the Messenger in all languages that did not exist before and printed distorted copies of the Quran.
They plot segregation and racism among Muslims.
وأكيد كيدا{16}
Maliciousness is one of the attributes of Allah to repel the plots of his enemies. Whenever the nation of Islam wanted to plot against it, Allah responded to their plot.
Mecca became a destination for Muslims, a qibla for prayer, and a holy place that brings together Muslims of all races.
فمهل الكافرين{17}
Allah asks His Messenger to leave the infidels and give them respite.
أمهلهم رويدا{18}
Do not rush them, you will see what will happen to them as a result of their actions.
Hadith on surah at-Tariq
There are some weak hadiths in which the merit of reciting surat Tariq is mentioned, including:
- It was narrated on the authority of Abu Ka’b, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said on the authority of the Prophet: “Whoever reads it, Allah will give him the reward according to the number of every star in the sky, ten good deeds”.
- On the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib that he said on the authority of the Prophet, he said to him: “O Ali, whoever recites it, it is as if he has recited two-thirds of the Quran, and for every verse he recites, he has the reward of one who enjoins good and forbids evil”.
- It was mentioned that the Companions and the Salaf called it Surat Al-Sama’ and Al-Tariq, where it was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger used to recite the sky and the Tariq, and the sky with the constellations.
- In the interpretation of al-Tabari and the provisions of Ibn al-Arabi, it was simplified with b, al-Samad, and al-Tariq by adding the waw.
- In most of the Qur’an, tafsir books, and the Sunnah, the name is at the beginning of the surah.
- He narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas and al-Samad and al-Tariq, where he said the sky and what is knocked on it, and on the authority of Ibn Abbas and Ata al-Thaqib with whom demons are thrown, and everything that appears at night is Tariq.
- Jaber bin Samra said: The Messenger used to recite in the noon and afternoon the sky with the constellations and the sky and the Tariq.
- The surah has merit in seeking refuge from Satan, as it is meant by the Tariq, who is the piercing and the burning of Satan.

1. By the heaven and the night-comer
2. And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is?-
3. It is the star that shines brightly.
4. No soul is there but hath over it a watcher.

10. Then he shall have no power nor any helper.

15. Verily they are plotting a plot.
16. And I am plotting a plot.
